Glass Vacuum Lifters for Industrial Handling

In a glass factory, a lifting device may move sheets between a rack, cutting or processing line and storage area. The best starting family depends on whether the pane travels horizontally or vertically, whether it must pivot or rotate, and whether the suction pads can contact a clean, sufficiently airtight surface. Select the complete vacuum lifter, not only the suction cups or a headline load rating.

eT-Hover-grid vacuum lifter with multiple suction pads for vertical glass handling
eT-Hover-grid is a starting point for vertical handling of suitable vacuum-tight glass panes. The pad arrangement and complete lift must be checked for the workpiece.

Match the lifting method to the glass handling task

Vertical factory transfer: eT-Hover-grid is designed for vertical handling of vacuum-tight panes. Confirm the pane’s weight, height, width, gripping face and support arrangement for the selected configuration.

Horizontal sheet transfer: eT-Hover-panel is a starting family for suitable airtight sheets moved horizontally. Its permitted workpiece dimensions and capacity must be taken from the same version. See the horizontal vacuum lifter guide for panels and glass sheets.

Changing orientation: an appropriate eT-Hover-univac configuration may suit tasks that require both horizontal and vertical handling with pivoting or in-plane rotation. Specify the motion precisely; rotation, a 90° pivot and turnover are different requirements. Review the eT-Hover-univac product information and confirm the exact variant with EUROTECH.

Window or facade installation: site lifting adds carrier reach, outdoor conditions and final positioning to the selection. Continue to the separate glass vacuum lifter guide for window installation for that task.

Why pane weight alone is not enough

Pane dimensions and stiffness affect the suction-pad layout. The condition of the contact surface affects the seal. Coatings, interlayers, frames and any non-glass components can change the complete load and where the pads may be placed. The required travel path, acceleration, crane, available power and lifting direction also affect the configuration. A published capacity for one version or orientation must not be applied to a different arrangement.

A vacuum suction cup is one part of a lifting system. For a complete lift, the frame, cups, vacuum generation, monitoring, controls and supporting crane must work together. The actual workpiece and complete attachment should be assessed before operation; the UK HSE guidance on vacuum lifting equipment explains why testing the assembly on the material to be lifted matters.

Prepare a glass handling inquiry

  • Maximum and minimum pane or unit weight, dimensions, thickness and a drawing or photo.
  • Glass type, coating and the face available for suction-pad contact.
  • Pick-up and placement orientation; any pivoting, rotation or turnover.
  • Travel path, lift height, cycle rate, available crane and power supply.
  • Factory or outdoor use, plus any restrictions on marks or pad placement.

Need a starting family?

Use the selection guide to compare glass-handling options, then send the pane drawing and handling details for a configuration review.
